Ringwraith Reimagined
So I was sitting around moping about whatever the other day, and I started fiddling with some LEGO blocks and an idea hit me: What if you poured some villainous coolness from Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings into a blender and hit the puree button? Maybe something like this would rise up and shoot noxious fire into your face!

Brighten Your Geeky Day
Take a second and let yourself gape and smile at this cool Flickr set from photographer Chris McVeigh. Visit the site itself (or max out the slideshow) to view bigger versions.
My favorite is Luke, Chewie, and Han dancing. What’s yours?
Brickshelf Gallery: Aye, Tortuga!
Oh, this is just too cool! It’s a small gallery of images from SlyOwl of his awesome LEGO diorama of some scalawags livin’ it up in Tortuga. Fun stuff!
Behold the Flying Canoneers!
I’ve been working on a secret project for a couple weeks. In honor of the new direction we’re taking with Canon Puncture as a crew of steampunk pirates aboard a flying ship, I present, in all its LEGO glory, the HMS Canon Puncture. I’ve embedded a Picasa slideshow here, but If you wanna see the actual Picasa album with large images and captions, follow the link to the album after clicking on the little Picasa logo in the bottom right cormer of the slideshow player.
Mechaton: My First Mechs
I began my training as a mech builder for Mechaton yesterday, and the preliminary results are not bad. The little back-and-grey guy on the right is closely modeled on the basic naked mech sample that Vincent provides in the game’s field guide. The larger red & white model is my own attempt to build something cool in the spirit of the game. And on the left is a basic station, which I think is pretty obviously being defended by Big Red, who is prepared to quash the measley little black and grey dude with a shot from his chest cannon.
I haven’t even tricked these guys out yet, but I’m already forming a narrative in my head about the political and cultural mores of the two factions represented here, along with a few other possible factions (each with their own distinct style and color palette) and working up of a huge campaign to put them in.
What, you didn’t expect me not to mix some narrative oomph into this thing just because it’s a tactical game played with LEGO pieces, did you? C’mon.
Of course I’ll be teaching Cartographer to play, but I must admit I’m also hungry to play this game with some – dare I say it? – adults. I suspect there might be a couple of former Rolemonkeys who might be interested.
Dreams of LEGO Starships
Sometimes, when I can get WildLion to pull out the LEGO blocks, I get to have as much fun as he’s having building all kinds of cool stuff, and such was the case earlier when I made a nifty little spaceship that would probably fit nicely into a game of Mechaton.
Then, of course, I had to photog the ship and drop it quick-and-dirty into a Photoshop image of space that I created a few months ago. So, voila! Here’s a pic of my short-range stinger in flight over a distant planet.
