Went with Leah to Seymour, Indiana [Blogged about this on Wed.]
Conor loves NASCAR. I love Conor. Therefore I allowed him to watch the Talladega race instead of us watching the Colts/49ers game.
Monday November 2
Evangelism Connections call – talked content and exposure with Bruce.
Dancing with the Stars – we predicted almost every result wrong. But Kelly and Donnie were great, period.
Castle – I could have sworn Fillion said something in Chinese at one point.
Harping Monkey site – categories in main nav menu – tough project. found a redirect plugin as workaround.
Reading: Before they are Hanged, book 2 of the First Law by Joe Abercrombie. No, I can’t claim it is as well-written as The Scar, but nevertheless, I care about the characters and their choices. It’s getting better and better. I’m really enjoying it.
Tuesday Nov 3
Working on:
Harping Monkey site
2nd Pres Lou re-design
Masque – the working name of my new rpg setting – doing lots of research and such with Zotero
trying to find free easy desktop journal software to record this stuff
Family: Liam wore Spider-Man jammies to school today as part of a class party. He also took his teddy bear.
TV: First impressions of “V”, 20 minutes in: Some actors I like, but nothing yet to make me care, or surprise me – except that the religion angle is being handled even more lamely than I imagined.
After the V pilot: Really? Are humans that lame? Are we really so desperate for hope that we’ll devote ourselves to anything without question? And aren’t we also ready to start using the word “humankind” instead of “mankind”? Come on. Not a grabby show. Disappointing.
Michael Irvin, buh-bye! Kelly O, keep dancin’ and smiling. Take it as far as you can go!
Wednesday Nov 4
Need to work on 2nd Pres site and BBC brochure. WANT to work on Masque.
The Airborne Toxic Event ‘Sometime Around Midnight’ – They sing of something I’ve never experienced and make me feel like I’m going through it every time.
Foo Fighters ‘Wheels’ – good stuff, but not typical FF. DJ on the radio said it best: it’s like Dave Grohl covering a Tom Petty song.
Anything by Kings of Leon – the more I listen, the more I like. Especially ‘Use Somebody’ and ‘Sex on Fire’. They’ve carved out a distinctive place and claimed it as their own. Sweet roughness.
Muse ‘Uprising’ – somehow, without doing anything beyond their normal boundaries, they still grab me and drag me in.
REALLY hope we’re going to play Lady Blackbird tonight. But short of that, I hope we get together and do something collaborative.
I’m certain that the game book will be called MASQUE, but I’m not sure that’s what to call the world/setting. Hmm.
I’m making a MASQUE wordle and combining it into an art piece to invoke the spirit of the setting. And I’m having fun!
Lady Blackbird happened, and it was back to awesome! Deep character stuff tonight – no bad guys, just character scenes. But conflict and angst out the wazoo.
Thursday Nov 5
Guy Fawkes Day is today? And I’m all swimming in thoughts about masques and subterfuge and daring plots of political intrigue? Coincidence?
Leah is gone all night with a group of prospective students. I miss her. But I’m pouring Masque stuff out of my brain like a madman.
Friday November 6
Watched Community – pretty good. Last night’s Mentalist – a good one. Tonight’s Smallville – kinda meh.
Masque is now Tales of the Scarlet Masque. Several really cool ideas forming.

And yet no one has told me about the Lady B game from last week…

That’s not true, dude – Rich Tweeted an AP overview that day.
And although with most things I actually write much better than I converse, there are some things I’d rather talk about verbally in real-time – and Lady Blackbird is one of those things, especially after all the confusion and drama caused by my emails from early last week.
So, if you wanna know what’s going on, get on Skype and join us next week, and we’ll catch you up and then you can take Arkham out for a spin again.
