Note: I chose to post this particular essay because in the next couple of days, I want to write a new post as a follow-up on the conclusions I drew here. A lot has changed since I wrote what I wrote below, and although I have not necessarily changed my mind about some of my assertions, I do regret the tone I took and I HAVE changed my mind about a couple things, now that I know a little bit more about the subject. In any case, read this knowing that an update is coming and that I’m NOT still feeling the way I did when I first wrote this piece.
